3 Easy Steps to Clean Oily Kitchen Floors

The kitchen is the ‘heart’ of the house. Every day cooking activities are always done here. Preparation when cooking certainly makes the condition of the kitchen not always clean. In addition to dirt or garbage produced from the food ingredients used, oil splashes or oil vapors are also the cause of oily kitchen floors and become easily dirty.

The amount of homework that must be done makes us often sacrifice or delay some things that should be done. Its ‘hidden’ location sometimes makes us lazy or forgets to clean the kitchen floor. If it continues, the floor will be even more oily, making it uncomfortable when cooking in the kitchen. Oily kitchen floors are also dangerous, because slippery floor conditions can cause slipping while cooking.

If the kitchen floor is already greasy, now is the time to clean it. During the holidays before Eid, do general cleaning so that the kitchen becomes a comfortable place to cook special Eid dishes. The following are easy steps to clean an oily kitchen floor:

Absorb oil

So that the oil splashes do not spread when cleaning the floor, the first step that must be done is to absorb the splashes that are scattered. Tissue paper can be used to absorb oil, but newsprint is also a good material to absorb oil.

It’s best not to rub or wipe the floor with newspaper, but press the newspaper against the oily kitchen floor surface. If we rub or wipe it, the oil splash will actually widen. The easy way, put the newspaper on the floor, then trampled. Pressing it with your body weight will make the oil more absorbable by the newspaper. Do this all over the floor.

If you feel that the oil splash is still not absorbed by the newspaper, you can use salt or flour. Sprinkle the oily kitchen floor with salt or flour, let stand a few moments then sweep.

Remove the oil

After the floor has been swept clean, it’s time to remove any traces of oil that of course still remain on the kitchen floor. First, prepare two buckets of warm water. Dissolve the dish soap in the first bucket. Then dampen a clean cloth in the second bucket.

Using a sponge, wipe or scrub the floor using a dish soapy water solution. The dish soap formula is designed to remove grease or oil from the dishes. This formula is also effective for cleaning the oil that sticks to the floor.

After the floor is cleaned with soap, wipe it with a cloth that has been moistened with warm water. Make sure to wipe it clean so that no soap remains on the floor.

 Finishing

Even though the floor has been wiped with a cloth, you should mop the kitchen floor as usual (using floor cleaner) to make sure the kitchen floor is really clean. Mop until clean and leave to dry.

How to clean an oily kitchen floor is quite easy to do yourself at home. If it is clean, it is recommended that at least the kitchen is mopped twice a day to keep it clean so that you remain comfortable when you set foot in the kitchen.
